Once in a while I get the news every business travelers loves to hear—that there’s no ceiling on my expenses budget—and when that happens, I like to try something unusual. There are luxury hotels all over the world but the Hotel Silken Puerta America is one of a kind. It is centrally located in Madrid, Spain, not far from a highway and a metro stop.
What sets the Hotel Silken Puerta apart from other hotels is the design. Each floor was specially designed by a popular designer with a unique concept in mind. This means the hotel has significant replay ability. Each stay you can get a room on a different floor for a unique experience.
The room I stayed in was especially… round. The bed was round; the room was round. The sinks and shower were round. Even the mirrors and walls were distinctly curved. Some of this may mean your designed room isn’t as practical as a more conventional one, however it is still very comfortable and at the very least interesting enough to put your mind into a creative state.
The food at the hotel was likewise pretty good, but the main reason anyone will be staying here is for the architecture. In that regard, it is easy to recommend the Hotel Silken Puerta to anyone interested in unique places. It’s also not as expensive as other luxury options in Madrid. Off season rooms I saw were available for $100, a small price to pay to spend the night in a genuine work of art.
